Frank Dreeke to be inducted into the Logistics Hall of Fame
- Former BLG LOGISTICS CEO honored as the architect of seaport logistics.
- Official induction will take place during the annual Gala Reception of the Logistics Hall of Fame on December 4 in Berlin.

Ismaning, September 25, 2025. Frank Dreeke (66), CEO of BLG LOGISTICS Group until 2024, has been inducted into the Logistics Hall of Fame. For more than four decades, in a wide range of roles, he has shaped the development of the seaport and logistics industry far beyond his entrepreneurial positions. He is regarded as a driving force and the architect of modern seaport logistics.
“Frank Dreeke has initiated pioneering changes in seaport logistics with strategic foresight and a consistent focus on efficiency and sustainability. He created structures that have had a lasting impact. His contribution lies in many, sometimes quiet but decisive, turning points. He opened ports, enabled cooperation, broke up monopolies, redistributed risks, advanced sustainability – and he never hesitated to call out shortcomings,” explains Anita Würmser, Executive Jury Chairwoman of the Logistics Hall of Fame about the jury’s decision. The jury includes 70 experts from business, science, politics, and media across 13 nations.
A native of Bremen, Dreeke has a keen sense for turning points. In the late 1990s, as General Manager Central Europe for SeaLand, he was co-initiator of the North Sea Terminal Bremerhaven, a joint venture between BLG, Maersk Line, and SeaLand. This project was much more than only a terminal. It is still considered a milestone and a blueprint not only for later joint ventures but also for the general opening of German ports to shipping lines.
In 2013, as a member of the BLG executive board, he drove technological investments in contract logistics without acting as the property owner. By expanding BLG Autorail, he established the first real competition to Deutsche Bahn in the automotive transport segment. He was also an early advocate of sustainability as a strategic element – from terminals to transport processes to low-emission vehicles. Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Dreeke has been an active industry representative, including at the “Zentralverband der deutschen Seehafenbetriebe e. V. (ZDS) and the “Deutsches Verkehrsforum e. V. (DVF)”, where he continues to advocate for the system relevance of seaports and push for investment initiatives.
Frank Dreeke began his career in 1987 at Network Containerfrachtagentur, then the SeaLand agency in Germany, after training as a shipping clerk and completing a degree in business administration at the German Foreign Trade and Transport Academy (DAV). He later held positions as General Manager Central Europe at SeaLand, at Maersk Line, and at Bremen-based EKB Container Logistik before joining the BLG executive board in 2013, where he served as CEO until 2024. Today, Dreeke is Chairman of the Presidium of “Deutsches Verkehrsforum” in Berlin.
He will be officially inducted into the Logistics Hall of Fame during the annual gala reception of the Logistics Hall of Fame on December 4 in Berlin. To date, 45 logisticians have been honored in the Hall of Fame.
